QUNEITRA, Syria — Israeli forces carried out a new raid in the countryside of Quneitra in southern Syria on Saturday, local media described as a fresh violation of the country’s sovereignty.
A force made up of five military vehicles advanced into the village of Ain al-Qadi through the Abu Rajm crossing and searched a house there, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported. No arrests were reported.
The raid came shortly after another Israeli force, consisting of eight military vehicles — four Hilux vehicles and four Hummer armored vehicles — advanced into the village of Bariqa in the southern Quneitra countryside, according to the report.
Syrian media said Israeli forces have repeatedly entered Syrian territory and carried out airstrikes, killing civilians and destroying military sites, vehicles, weapons and ammunition, despite Syria posing no threat.
Following the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime in late 2024, Israel expanded its occupation of the Syrian Golan Heights by seizing the demilitarized buffer zone, a move that violated a 1974 agreement with Syria. — Agencies
