RIYADH —The Transport General Authority (TGA) started enforcing on Thursday, Jan. 1 its decision mandating parcel delivery companies not to accept or transport any postal shipment that does not include a national address. The authority emphasized that regulatory penalties will be slapped on companies that fail to comply with the decision, according to a press statement issued by the TGA on Thursday.
The authority explained that implementing this decision is part of its efforts to regulate the parcel delivery sector, as well as to enhance the efficiency of delivery operations, improve the quality of services provided to beneficiaries, and reduce unnecessary communication between delivery couriers and customers.
The TGA clarified that the current phase includes the enforcement of financial fines against companies that do not comply with the requirement not to accept shipments without a national address, in accordance with the relevant regulatory frameworks. It noted that fines, ranging between SR5,000 and SR50,000, will be slapped on non-compliant parcel delivery companies, contributing to higher levels of compliance, smoother operational processes, and improved sector quality.
The authority also called on all companies operating in the postal parcel transport activity to adhere to the approved instructions and ensure that all shipments include a national address, supporting the sustainability of the parcel transport sector and enhancing the beneficiary experience across all regions of the Kingdom.
All individuals can verify their national address through the official national address platform, as well as via the platforms Absher, Tawakkalna, Sehhaty, and Saudi Post.
