RIYADH — The Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) has expressed strong condemnation of what it described as “irresponsible statements” made by Jibril Rajoub, president of the Palestinian Football Association, rejecting insinuations that questioned the integrity of sporting competition by linking the Saudi national team to matters unrelated to football.

In an official statement, the Saudi Arabian Football Federation said the comments included unacceptable allegations and implications that undermine the principles of fair play, stressing that the Saudi national team’s participation in the Arab Cup — held recently in Qatar under the supervision of FIFA — was conducted in full compliance with sporting regulations and values.

The Saudi FA affirmed its full respect for the history and development of Palestinian football, while firmly rejecting any form of accusation or insinuation directed at Saudi football. The federation emphasized the importance of keeping sport free from political rhetoric or statements that could inflame public opinion or distract from the core objectives of athletic competition.

The statement also underlined that Arab tournaments are held to strengthen bonds of brotherhood and solidarity among Arab nations, promote mutual respect, and reinforce the values of fair and honorable competition.
