RIYADH — Emir of Riyadh Prince Faisal bin Bandar inaugurated 25 new parks across various neighborhoods of Riyadh. The inaugural ceremony was held at Al-Hukm Palace in Riyadh in the presence of Riyadh Mayor Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz, and a number of officials.

Prince Faisal bin Bandar praised the Saudi leadership's support for all initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life and well-being of citizens and expatriates in the Kingdom. He emphasized the importance of these projects, which align with the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and the Riyadh Green Initiative. “The new parks represent a valuable addition that contributes to improving quality of life, enhancing the urban landscape, and promoting healthy lifestyles among Riyadh residents,” he said.

During the inaugural ceremony, the Emir was briefed on the new parks, which span a total area of 274,600 square meters. These include 77,300 square meters of green spaces, 2,480 planted trees, and 33,500 linear meters of pedestrian walkways and 7,400 linear meters of bicycle paths. This comprehensive development aims to promote active movement within neighborhoods and support safe and sustainable transportation options.

Prince Faisal also listened to a detailed explanation of the parks’ amenities, which include 17 multi-purpose sports fields, 1,165 lighting poles, 913 parking spaces, and 12,000 square meters of children’s play areas. Additionally, 666 benches are distributed throughout the parks, providing a family-friendly environment that enhances the visitor experience and improves the efficiency of public facilities.

This ensures easy access for people with disabilities, supports their inclusion in community activities, and prioritizes safety. The parks are also designed to optimize space utilization and cater to all age groups.

The opening of these parks comes as part of an integrated program that the region’s mayoralty has begun implementing to increase green spaces, promote urban development, and raise the quality of life in Riyadh. The city of Riyadh witnessed the opening of 17 parks during 2022, 45 parks in 2023, and 25 parks in 2024, leading up to the opening of 25 new parks during 2025, in support of urban development efforts, raising the quality of life, and enhancing the services provided to the capital’s residents and visitors.
