WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump said no agreement to end the Russia-Ukraine war would be finalized without Washington’s consent, as he prepares to host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for talks in Florida.

“He doesn’t have anything until I approve it,” Trump told Politico ahead of the meeting, expected to take place on Sunday. “We’ll see what he’s got.”

Trump said he expects the discussions to be productive, adding: “I think it’s going to go good with him.”

The U.S. president also expressed optimism about parallel diplomacy with Moscow, saying he believes talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin would also “go good” and that he expects to speak with Putin soon.

Earlier, Zelenskyy confirmed plans to meet Trump to discuss a draft roadmap aimed at ending the war, including proposed security guarantees and an economic arrangement.

He told Axios that the talks would focus on finalizing a framework and setting a timetable for concluding the conflict.

Zelenskyy said the process has moved to the “next level,” arguing that direct presidential engagement is now required to accelerate progress.

The Kremlin said separately that Moscow and Washington have agreed to maintain dialogue on a possible settlement, signaling continued diplomatic engagement despite ongoing fighting. — Agencies
