RIYADH — The Saudi Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority announced the seizure of 957 contraband cases at land, sea, and air customs ports across the Kingdom during the last week.

The seized items included 81 types of narcotics, 454 prohibited substances, 1,852 types of tobacco and its derivatives, three types of currency, and 19 types of weapons and related materials.

The authority affirmed its commitment to strengthening customs control over the Kingdom's imports and exports so as to ensure the security and protection of society, through continuous cooperation and coordination with all relevant partners.

The authority urged the public to participate in its drive to combat smuggling in order to protect society and the national economy, through contacting the dedicated security reporting number 1910. This number receives reports related to smuggling crimes and violations of the provisions of the Unified Customs Law, with complete confidentiality. The authority will grant a financial reward to whistleblowers if the information in the report is correct.
