JEDDAH —
The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) at King Abdulaziz International Airport has foiled an attempt to smuggle 187,000 amphetamine pills (Captagon), which were found hidden inside an incoming shipment.

Zatca spokesperson Hamoud Al-Harbi said the shipment was declared as “dining tables” and was inspected through customs procedures using security screening technologies and live detection methods.

The pills were discovered concealed inside cavities within the tables.

Al-Harbi added that after the seizure, Zatca coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to ensure the arrest of the intended recipients inside the Kingdom. Four suspects were arrested.

He stressed that Zatca continues to tighten customs control across all ports of entry to protect society and prevent smuggling attempts involving narcotics and other prohibited items.

Al-Harbi urged the public to report smuggling-related information through the dedicated security hotline (1910), via email (1910@zatca.gov.sa), or the international number (009661910).

He said reports are handled with strict confidentiality, and a financial reward is offered if the information is confirmed accurate.
