RIYADH — Public Security Director Lt. Gen. Mohammed Al-Bassami unveiled plans of the Public Security Directorate to expand the unified security reporting system (911) to all regions of Saudi Arabia in the future. The use of this reporting system is currently limited to the regions of Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province.
Addressing the Absher Conference 2025 in Riyadh on Thursday, he said that there is a strategic plan to launch the "Maidan Al-Shamel" application by developing the existing “Maidan” application and enabling all sectors to utilize it and access data from various Public Security platforms. At present, the "Maidan" platform is a unified security application used by field security officers in various sectors of the Saudi Ministry of Interior to access security databases and manage case procedures electronically. It is not a public-facing platform for citizens or residents.
Al-Bassami praised the construction of a highly advanced police station in the Al-Salmaniyah district of Riyadh. He affirmed that this model will be further developed and expanded in the capital in the future. “The next phase will see the construction of police stations in Jeddah and the Eastern Province that rely on artificial intelligence and technology,” he said.
Al-Bassami noted that 2025 witnessed the execution of 189 million transactions through public security platforms, and more than 322 services provided through these platforms, including the 911 reporting system, public security portals, the Absher platform, the "Amn" platform, and the "Maidan" application, which currently offers 17 services. He also mentioned that work is underway to build a system for managing drones for use in security operations.
He emphasized that these platforms will continue to offer services, paving the way for a fully smart future. He highlighted the empowerment of public security personnel with mobile technologies, citing the example of the smart mobile police station currently operating in Al-Sayahid, which allows for the use of this technology in any region across the Kingdom. He also noted the integration of artificial intelligence into all aspects of Public Security.
He pointed out that Public Security has developed a strategic plan based on several objectives to achieve a smart future with innovative security services. This plan relies on a trained and experienced workforce capable of handling various issues, alongside the use of advanced technologies and the provision of accurate data to enable decision-makers to take the right actions with high efficiency.
“This strategy was built upon two directives, 35 initiatives, 131 projects, and 10 tracks focusing on multiple aspects, including cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, infrastructure, operations, and other key areas,” he added.
