TABUK — Jabal Al-Lawz in the Tabuk region witnessed on Wednesday heavy snowfall, accompanied by fog covering the highlands, as well as strong winds. There was a significant drop in temperatures, reaching as low as -4 degrees Celsius.
Fog covered the highlands, and strong winds brought sub-zero temperatures. The Trojena highlands witnessed snowfall, along with light rainfall. Light to moderate rain also fell on the centers of Bi'r bin Hirmas, Al-Uyaynah, Halat Ammar, and Shigry, as well as their surrounding areas.
Snowfall in Jabal Al-Lawz (Al-Lawz Mountains) in Tabuk creates a popular winter attraction, transforming the landscape into a snowy wonderland with freezing temperatures, attracting locals and visitors for photos and unique winter experiences, despite being an arid region.
Jabal Al-Lawz, which means mountain of almonds, is located northwest of Saudi Arabia and 2580 meters above sea level. Renowned for its annual snow cover, Jabal Al-Lawz presented a stunning winter landscape, captivating both residents and visitors alike.
Meanwhile, the National Center for Meteorology (NCM) had indicated in its weather report for Wednesday the possibility of light snowfall and frost formation in parts of the Tabuk and Hail highlands, as well as in the northeastern parts of the Madinah highlands. The report also indicated partly cloudy to cloudy skies with scattered thunderstorms and rain in the western and southwestern parts of the Kingdom.
The center predicted moderate to heavy thunderstorms leading to flash floods, accompanied by hail and active winds in parts of the Riyadh, Eastern Province, and Northern Borders regions. Moderate rainfall is expected in parts of the Tabuk, Al-Jouf, Hail, and Qassim regions, with a chance of fog formation in some of these regions.
