JEDDAH — The Jeddah Education Department announced on Monday that in-person classes will be suspended in all schools in the governorates of Jeddah, Rabigh, and Khulais on Tuesday amid forecast of heavy rain and issuance of a red alert.
"Based on weather reports from the National Center for Meteorology (NCM) and in the interest of everyone's safety, it has been decided to switch over to distance learning via the Madrasati platform for all students and staff in the schools of Jeddah, Rabigh, and Khulais on Tuesday,” the department said in a statement on its X account.

The decision to suspend in-person classes came amid the issuance of a red alert by NCM from 1:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday due to heavy rainfall. The NCM warned that the rain would be accompanied by strong winds, poor visibility, hail, flash floods, high waves, and thunderstorms.

The National Center for Meteorology had issued red alerts for heavy rains in the regions of Makkah, Madinah, Hail, and the Northern Borders on Monday.
