Civil Defense warns of caution amid NCM forecast of heavy rain in Jeddah and other governorates of Makkah

JEDDAH — The National Center for Meteorology(NCM) has warned of moderate to heavy rainfall in several governorates of the Makkah region, including Jeddah, Al-Kamil, Adham, Rabigh, Khulais, and Bahrah, from Monday until Wednesday.


According to a detailed weather map released on Saturday by NCM, the Makkah region would be among the most affected, with moderate to heavy rain capable of causing flash floods, hail, and dust-raising downdraft winds. The Civil Defense urged the public to take precautions and adhere to its instructions.

Thunderstorms of varying intensity struck Haql governorate in the Tabuk region on Saturday, affecting several towns and villages including: Al-Durra border crossing, Wadi Mabrak, Al-Zaytah, Ras Al-Zaytah, Al-Kharj, Al-Wadi Al-Abyad, Al-Mujayfil, and Sharif Mu'tiyah.

The towns of Ulu Al-Qusayr and Alqan also experienced moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by hail, leading to flash floods in valleys and streams.

Moderate to heavy rain fell on the governorate of Umluj in the Tabuk region, including the northern Al-Harrah and Amq centers. The sky remains overcast with a continued chance of rain.

The NCM stated that Tabuk, Madinah, Al-Jouf, the Northern Borders, Hail, Qassim, the Eastern Province and Al-Baha will experience moderate to heavy rainfall that may result in flash floods, hail and strong downward winds.
