RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Embassy in Ethiopia has issued an alert to Saudi citizens residing in or traveling to Ethiopia, urging them to avoid traveling to the South Omo Zone in South Ethiopia and other regions where the Marburg virus outbreak is reported.

An advisory, issued by the Saudi embassy in Addis Ababa, underlined the need to take maximum precautions, avoid crowded places, and hold fast to the instructions of local authorities.

Saudi citizens urged to contact the embassy's emergency hotline, which operates 24/7, for support and assistance. As of December 3, Ethiopia has reported 13 laboratory confirmed cases of Marburg virus, eight of which were fatal, in the country's South Ethiopia and Sidama regions.
