DAMASCUS — Al Arabiya channel have aired exclusive leaked recordings showing former Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad in private conversations with his former adviser Luna Al-Shibl, revealing sharp criticism, mockery and disparaging remarks about events and figures inside Syria.

According to Al Arabiya’s sources, Amjad Issa, Al-Shibl’s assistant, was in the car with Assad at the time of the recorded conversations.

In one clip, Assad is seen making harsh insults related to Eastern Ghouta, using an explicit phrase, while other footage shows discussions between him and Al-Shibl in which she criticizes Hezbollah, saying the group once boasted about its strength, “and now we haven’t heard a word from them.”

Assad also appears telling his team from Ghouta: “We will enter Saqba as if I don’t know it has already been liberated.”

Assad mocks Syrian soldiers, ministers, and state institutions

The leaked recordings show Assad and Al-Shibl mocking Syrian soldiers who had previously appeared in videos kissing his hand during official events.

In another segment, Al-Shibl asks Assad what he feels when he sees his photos displayed in public. He responds that he feels “nothing.”

The videos also capture both Assad and Al-Shibl openly ridiculing the Syrian police and the Minister of Interior.

Al-Shibl remarks sarcastically: “The minister is so happy with his police force — every little while they post something new about them on Facebook.”

Assad is also quoted as saying, regarding the situation in Syria: “I don’t feel only ashamed — I feel disgusted.”

Mocking Suhail Al-Hassan and even the Assad family name

Al-Shibl is heard mocking Major General Suhail Al-Hassan, saying: “He has no time, he’s posing on Mount Qassioun with Russian bodyguards.”

Assad reportedly describes Al-Hassan as “a man with strange theories.”

One clip shows Assad joking about his own family name, saying it should be changed “to the name of another animal.”

Footage also features him mocking segments of the Syrian public, stating that people “spend money on building mosques when they can’t afford to eat.”

A rare look into Assad’s inner circle

The leaked recordings — aired for the first time — offer an unprecedented glimpse into the private discussions within Assad’s inner circle, revealing contempt, cynicism and internal criticism that sharply contrasts with the regime’s public messaging.
