JEDDAH — Saudi Arabia experienced a “moderate” climate in 2025 with no extreme weather events, as the country prepares for the start of the winter season on Monday.

The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) Spokesperson Hussein Al-Qahtani said temperature, rainfall, and wind levels remained within normal ranges throughout the year, in contrast to previous years that saw higher extremes. The climate data showed general stability in weather elements, with no incidents exceeding the norms.

Al-Qahtani highlighted that the winter season officially begins on Monday, December 1, with temperatures expected to drop gradually in the coming days. Rainfall is likely across several regions, with large areas predicted to be affected by the first rainy spell of the season.

Initial indicators suggest the winter will be generally cold but without severe or exceptional cold waves. The northern, eastern, and central regions are expected to see the most noticeable temperature drops through December and January.

December is typically one of the rainy months in Saudi Arabia, particularly in the northern areas and some northeastern parts of the country, with precipitation expected to be around or slightly above average this year, Al-Qahtani added.

Daytime weather is expected to remain moderate and pleasant during the coming period, while nights will see significant cooling. Rainfall chances will continue, alongside occasional weather phenomena.
