GENEVA — Saudi Arabia secured 18 international awards in hospital development and scientific research at the 48th World Hospital Congress (WHC), held in Geneva between November 10 and 13.

The achievement highlights the Kingdom’s growing global competitiveness and its progress toward building a leading, innovative healthcare system.

Thirteen awards were granted in the hospital development projects category. King Khalid Hospital in Al-Kharj, part of the First Riyadh Health Cluster, received the prestigious Gold Award from the Dr. Kwang Tae Kim Grand Award — the highest honor of the congress. Al-Kharj Maternity and Children’s Hospital, also under the First Riyadh Health Cluster, earned the Silver Award from the American Hospital Association for initiatives supporting healthcare worker well-being.

King Salman Hospital in Riyadh received the Silver Award at the Mastercard Awards for Operational Excellence in Hospitals. The Jubail Health Network, part of the Eastern Health Cluster, won the Bronze Award at the Holding Company Awards for Excellence in Social and Environmental Responsibility.

Saudi researchers also secured five awards across various scientific research tracks. Dr. Muaddi Al-Harbi, Scientific Research Advisor to the Assistant Minister for Health Services, was honored in the Digital Health and Artificial Intelligence track.

In the Clinical Models track, Dr. Hatem Abdullah from the First Riyadh Health Cluster and Musallam Sadaran from the Najran Health Cluster were named winners. Dr. Hadi Al-Sulaym, also from the Najran Health Cluster, earned an award in the Sustainability track.
