JEDDAH — The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has released updated, color-coded weather alerts detailing expected rainfall intensity and potential flash-flood risks across several regions of Saudi Arabia through Tuesday.
The alert system classifies weather conditions into three levels: Yellow for light rainfall, reduced visibility, thunderstorms, and active winds; Orange for moderate rain, strong winds, near-zero visibility, hail, thunderstorms, and possible flash floods; and Red for severe weather, including zero visibility, hail, flash floods, high waves, and intense thunderstorms.
Light rain and localized thunderstorms are forecast under the yellow category in Al-Jouf, specifically Al-Qurayyat and Tabarjal, from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday.
In Madinah, Al-Hanakiya will see yellow-level conditions from 8 a.m. Tuesday until 2 a.m. Wednesday.
In the Makkah region, Maysan and Adum are expected to receive light rainfall between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., while Jeddah, Khalis, Buhra, Jamum, Kamil, Taif, and Makkah city fall under yellow alerts from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Moderate rainfall and heightened weather risks extend across large parts of the Kingdom.
In Madinah, AlUla, Al-‘Is, Yanbu, and Al-Rais are forecast to be affected from 2 a.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday. Badr and Wadi Al-Far‘ will face similar conditions between 5 a.m. and 11 p.m., while Khabir is expected to experience orange-level impacts from 4 a.m. to 8 p.m. Medina city itself is under an orange alert from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
In the Makkah region, Taif remains under an orange alert from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
In Tabuk, Al-Bad, Haql, Wajh, Duba, and Tabuk city are affected from midnight until 8 p.m., with Tima seeing hazardous conditions from 3 a.m. to 9 p.m.
In the Northern Borders, Al-Uwayqila and Arar entered the orange category from 10 a.m. Tuesday until 2 a.m. Wednesday.
The most severe classification covers parts of Tabuk and Al-Jouf.
In Tabuk, Umluj is expected to see red-level weather from midnight until 10 p.m. Tuesday.
In Al-Jouf, Al-Qurayyat and Tabarjal — under yellow earlier in the day — are forecast to escalate to red conditions between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.
The NCM continues urging residents to follow official alerts, avoid flood-prone areas, and exercise caution as weather systems move across the Kingdom.
