JEDDAH — The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) has issued a wide-ranging weather alert, forecasting thunderstorms from moderate to heavy intensity across multiple regions of Saudi Arabia in the coming days.

Residents are urged to monitor updates through the NCM website, official social media channels, and the “Anwaa” weather application.

Thunderstorm activity is expected in Tabuk, Medina, Makkah, Al-Jouf, Northern Borders, Hail, Al-Baha, Asir, and Jazan, with varying levels of rain intensity.

Light rainfall ranges between 1–4 mm per hour, with downdraft winds generating dust and sand of up to 50 km/h.


Moderate rain typically measures 5–9 mm per hour, accompanied by winds reaching 60 km/h, potential flash floods, hail, and rough coastal waves.


Heavy rainfall exceeds 10 mm per hour, with winds surpassing 60 km/h, heightened flash-flood risk, hail, high coastal waves, and in some cases, the possibility of tornadoes or waterspouts.

Regional breakdown

Tabuk
Areas including Duba, Al Wajh, Umluj, Tabuk city, NEOM, Haql, Al-Badʿ, and Tayma are expected to see moderate to heavy rainfall at different times of the day.

Madinah
Yanbu, AlUla, Al-‘Is, Badr, and Khaybar may receive moderate to heavy rainfall, while Medina city, Al-Hunakiyah, Al-Mahd, and Wadi Al-Far‘ are forecast to see light to moderate rain throughout the day.

Makkah region
Rabigh may experience moderate to heavy rain. Light to moderate rainfall is expected in Jeddah, Khulays, the Holy Capital (Makkah), Al-Kamil, Al-Jumum, and Bahrah from Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning (Nov. 25–26, 2025).


Ta’if, Maysan, Adham, and Al-Ardiyat are forecast to receive moderate to heavy rainfall from Tuesday to Friday.


Al-Lith and Al-Qunfudhah will see light to moderate rain from Wednesday to Friday.

Al-Jouf
Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in Al-Qurayyat, Tabarjal, Dumat Al-Jandal, and Sakaka on Tuesday.

Northern Borders
Turaif and Arar may see moderate to heavy rainfall on Tuesday, while Rafha and Al-‘Uwayqilah are forecast to receive light to moderate rain on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Hail and Al-Baha
Both regions are expected to experience moderate to heavy rainfall from Tuesday through Friday.

Asir
Moderate to heavy rain is forecast from Tuesday to Friday. Heavier rainfall is expected in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Ahad Rufaidah, Sarat Abidah, Al-Harajah, Dhahran Al-Janoub, and Rijal Al-Maa on Thursday and Friday.

Jazan
Rainfall will begin as moderate on Tuesday and develop into heavy rain by Thursday and Friday.

Authorities urge residents to take precautions during periods of heavy rainfall and to follow real-time alerts issued by the NCM.
