WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump said he would work to help end the war in Sudan after Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman personally asked him to intervene during their meeting at the White House.

Trump told the U.S.–Saudi Investment Forum in Washington that his administration began efforts “half an hour” after the Crown Prince raised the issue.

He later said the United States would work with Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt and other regional partners to halt atrocities and stabilize Sudan.

The conflict, which began in 2023 between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, has caused mass displacement, destruction, and ethnic violence.

Saudi officials believe Trump’s direct involvement could help unlock stalled negotiations, pointing to his role in brokering a ceasefire in Gaza last month.

In a social media post, Trump described Sudan as “the most violent place on Earth” and “the single biggest humanitarian crisis,” calling for urgent action to deliver aid and end the suffering.— Agencies
