Trump says US officials won’t attend G20 Summit in South Africa

November 08, 2025

WASHINGTON — US President Donald Trump announced on Friday that no American officials will attend the upcoming G20 Summit in South Africa, accusing the host nation of committing “human rights abuses” against the Afrikaner population.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump condemned what he described as the “killing and slaughter” of Afrikaners — descendants of Dutch, French, and German settlers — and the “illegal confiscation” of their land and farms.

“It is a total disgrace that the G20 will be held in South Africa,” Trump wrote, adding, “No U.S. Government Official will attend as long as these Human Rights abuses continue.”

He also said he looks forward to hosting the 2026 G20 Summit in Miami, signaling his intention to bring the high-profile gathering to the United States if he remains in office.

The G20 Summit is scheduled to take place in South Africa from Nov. 22 to 23, as part of the country’s rotating presidency of the world’s largest economies. — Agencies
