RIYADH — The General Directorate of Civil Defense conductedon Monday a test of fixed sirens in some governorates of the regions of Riyadh, Tabuk and Makkah.
The siren sounded this afternoon in the Riyadh city and the governorates of Diriyah, Al-Kharj, and Al-Dilam, as well as in Tabuk and in the governorates of Jeddah and Thuwal in the Makkah region. Fixed sirens sounded while mobile phones received test alerts.
This test of emergency warning systems coincided with the launch of the National Early Warning Platform across all regions of the Kingdom, aimed at ensuring the efficiency and readiness of warning systems to broadcast audible alerts during emergencies.
The National Early Warning Platform broadcasted warning messages, using the new behavior tone at 1:00 p.m., the national alert tone at 1:10 p.m., and concluding with the fixed siren system in designated areas at 1:15 p.m.
The experiment includes conducting tests on the National Early Warning Platform across all regions of the Kingdom in emergency situations via the cellular broadcast service. This is through sending warning messages to mobile phones accompanied by a distinctive audio tone, in conjunction with the implementation of the siren experiment in the selected regions.
This drill is part of the Civil Defense's ongoing efforts to enhance early warning systems and strengthen emergency response capabilities, ensuring rapid delivery of alerts to residents and improving public safety and risk prevention.
