Al-Qasabi holds talks with UK counterpart and US business delegation

RIYADH — Saudi Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Competitiveness Center Majed Al-Qasabi met with a British delegation led by Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves in Riyadh on Monday. The delegation also included Britsh Minister of State for Investment Jason Stockwood, and British Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Dr. Stephen Hitchen, along with several British officials.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to strengthen trade and economic relations between Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom, focusing on priority and emerging sectors. Discussions also covered cooperation in financial services, financial technology, e-commerce, innovation, advanced manufacturing, supply chains, competitiveness, and exports.

The ministers further reviewed progress on joint initiatives and developments under the Economic and Social Committee of the Saudi-UK Strategic Partnership Council. They highlighted both nations’ commitment to expanding investment and trade cooperation.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the ninth edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII), which began at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center in Riyadh on Monday under the theme “The key to prosperity: Unlocking new frontiers of growth.”

Also on Monday, Al-Qasabi held a roundtable meeting with a delegation from the American business sector. Organized by the National Competitiveness Center in cooperation with the US Chamber of Commerce, the meeting discussed the economic partnership in light of the growing momentum in Saudi–US relations.


Discussions also explored opportunities to expand cooperation, strengthen partnerships between the private sectors of both countries, and enhance collaboration in promising industries and areas of innovation.
The US delegation included senior representatives from major companies such as Amazon, Bechtel, Google, Honeywell, Visa Inc., PepsiCo, Novartis, Parsons Corporation, and Plug and Play.
