RIYADH — Four persons —two Saudis and two Syrian nationals— were arrested after foiling major drug smuggling attempt in the Riyadh region. The General Directorate of Narcotics Control have seized 2,064,000 amphetamine pills hidden inside a shipment of walnuts. The arrested persons were the recipients of the drugs smuggled into the Kingdom.
The arrests were made as part of the Ministry of Interior's anti-narcotics mission and its efforts to monitor drug smuggling and trafficking activities that target the security of the Kingdom and its youth.
The security authorities urged citizens and residents to report any information they have about any activities related to drug smuggling or trafficking, by calling over the numbers 911 in the regions of Makkah, Riyadh and the Eastern Province, and 999 in the rest of the regions of the Kingdom, and the General Directorate of Narcotics Control’s reporting number 995, and via email:995@gdnc.gov.sa. It said that all reports will be treated with complete confidentiality.
