RIYADH — The Riyadh Mayoralty has completed the installation of street signboards bearing the name of the late Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Muhammad Al-Sheikh, following the directive of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman. This renaming honors Al-Sheikh’s scholarly legacy and his contributions to the service of Islam.
The mayoralty replaced the name of Musa bin Nusayr Street in Al-Olaya district of Riyadh with Sheikh Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh Street. This street intersects several major roads, including Al-Takhassusi Road, King Fahd Road, Al-Olaya Street, and Al-Orouba Road.
The Crown Prince’s directive came as a token of honor and appreciation for Al-Sheikh's scholarly stature and his outstanding contributions in serving the nation, Islam, and the Muslims.
The late Sheikh dedicated his life to the pursuit of knowledge and teaching of Islamic jurisprudence and guiding people, and his scholarly and practical contributions had a profound impact on strengthening the standing of Islamic jurisprudence and its teaching. Al-Sheikh died in Riyadh at the age of 82 on September 23, 2025 after serving as Grand Mufti for over 25 years.
