CAPE TOWN —
Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Al-Swaha participated in the G20 artificial intelligence ministerial meeting held in Cape Town, South Africa.

In his remarks, Al-Swaha said the world is heading over the next five years toward economic and social shifts driven by AI that could equal the progress of the past five decades.

He stressed the need for G20 nations to strengthen collective action to prevent widening gaps in the smart era.

He noted that Saudi Arabia is working to turn challenges into opportunities by focusing on three main tracks: leveraging generative AI to support healthcare innovation and accelerate drug discovery for diseases such as diabetes and sickle cell anemia; advancing industrial transformation through agent-based AI that reduces emissions and enhances efficiency; and developing physical AI.

Concluding his address, Al-Swaha reaffirmed the Kingdom’s full support for South Africa’s G20 presidency, emphasizing that AI must serve as a tool to promote solidarity, equality, and sustainability worldwide.
