BRUSSELS — European Council President António Costa hailed Saudi Arabia and France for their initiative in bringing the international community together at a critical moment for peace in the Middle East. He made the remarks during his address to the United Nations General Assembly.
Costa stated that the humanitarian situation in Gaza has reached an unprecedented and catastrophic level. He called for urgent international action to stop the bloodshed, citing years of conflict and violence in the region.
Costa also strongly condemned the ongoing Israeli military operations in Gaza and the escalation in the West Bank. He demanded an immediate ceasefire, unrestricted and safe access for humanitarian aid, and the immediate, unconditional release of all hostages.
