Saudi national day: Health first

On Saudi National Day, we recall the story of a nation built on faith and people, where King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud realized that the rise of nations begins with the health of their citizens.

After unifying the Kingdom, he made healthcare and education a top priority, establishing the first hospitals and health centers in the country, and laying the foundation for a modern healthcare system that could meet the needs of the young state.

He firmly believed that building a healthy human being was the first step to building a strong nation.

Through the decades, this principle remained deeply rooted in Saudi leadership.

The words of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz captured this truth when he said: “Human health in the Kingdom is fundamental and the first priority.”

These words were not just a slogan, but a guiding principle that shaped national policies, programs, and major investments in healthcare infrastructure and quality of life for all citizens and residents.

Today, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is leading an unprecedented transformation in the healthcare sector under Saudi Vision 2030. This transformation focuses on restructuring the health system to become more efficient and sustainable, by separating the operational role from the regulatory one, and launching an integrated model of care that places the patient at the center. It emphasizes preventive health, encourages investment in medical technologies and artificial intelligence, and expands partnerships with the private sector to ensure services meet the highest international standards.

This transformation has already resulted in pioneering initiatives such as the expansion of

digital health services, the introduction of universal health insurance, and the application

of Value-Based Healthcare models that balance financial efficiency with patient experience.

Saudi National Day is not only a moment to celebrate the past but also a chance to renew our commitment to the future.

From King Abdulaziz to Vision 2030, the Saudi leadership has always placed people at the heart of its priorities, ensuring that the health of citizens and residents remains a measure of national strength and pride.

On this great day, we affirm that the Kingdom has been a homeland that has prioritized human dignity and health, and invested in the future of its people.

With every milestone achieved and every vision realized, we grow more certain that Saudi Arabia is not merely a story of the past, but a promise for the future, a future built with the resolve of its sons and daughters. It is a story of glory renewed, ambition deeply rooted, and a nation writing its chapters with the ink of health, knowledge, and determination.
