RIYADH — Saudi Arabia welcomed on Sunday the recognition of the State of Palestine by the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and Portugal. “This reaffirms the serious commitment of these friendly countries to supporting the peace process and moving towards a two-state solution based on relevant international resolutions,” Saudi Arabia said in a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency.

Saudi Arabia looks forward to further international recognition of the State of Palestine and to additional positive steps that will contribute to realizing the aspirations of the Palestinian people to live in peace on their land. The Kingdom also expressed hope that this would enable the Palestinian Authority to fulfill its responsibilities towards a future prevailing security, stability, and prosperity for the Palestinian people.
