SEOUL — A South Korean special counsel team has summoned former President Yoon Suk Yeol for questioning next week over allegations tied to his failed attempt to impose martial law, Yonhap News Agency reported Saturday.
Cho Eun-suk’s investigation team said Yoon has been asked to appear at the Seoul High Prosecutors’ Office on Wednesday.
It remains unclear whether Yoon will comply, as he has refused to attend any trials since July.
Prosecutors are expected to question him about allegations that he incited foreign aggression by ordering a drone mission into North Korea last October, ahead of his short-lived martial law bid. If the session goes ahead, it will mark the first time investigators formally question him over the incitement charge.
Yoon was ousted from office last December after declaring martial law. He has been in custody since July and faces multiple charges, including leading an insurrection and abusing his power through the decree. — Agencies
