Four killed in Ukrainian drone attack on Russia’s Samara region, governor says

MOSCOW — Four people were killed and one injured in a Ukrainian drone strike on Russia’s southwestern Samara region overnight, Governor Vyacheslav Fedorechev said Saturday.

“I am deeply saddened to announce that four lives have been lost due to a night attack by enemy drones. This is an irreplaceable loss for each and every one of us. My heartfelt condolences go out to the families and loved ones of those who perished,” the governor wrote on the Russian social media platform VKontakte.

He said the regional government is in close contact with the victims’ families and will provide financial and other forms of support. One person injured in the attack is receiving treatment.

“Our best medical professionals are doing everything possible to restore their health,” Fedorechev added. — Agencies
