RIYADH — The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development announced the end of the three-month midday outdoor work ban. Compliance rate of the ban of work under the sun reached 94 percent, reflecting private sector establishments' growing awareness about the importance of compliance.
The ministry, in coordination with the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health, enforced the midday work ban under the sun for all private sector companies and establishments from June 15. The work ban was from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., for a period of three months ending on September 15.
Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Ahmed Al-Rajhi said that the high rate of compliance reflects the awareness and responsibility of private sector establishments and fruitful cooperation with partners represented by the relevant authorities. He emphasized the continued promotion of safe work environments to preserve the safety and health of workers and support sustainable development.
The ministry said that the decision to enforce midday outdoor work ban was part of preserving the safety and health of workers in the private sector by banning their work in the open under direct sunlight. It also aims to protect them from potential health risks, and provide a healthy and safe work environment in accordance with international occupational safety and health standards.
On its part, the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health affirmed its continued support for initiatives that protect the health and safety of workers and ensure a healthy and safe work environment.
