Saudi Crown Prince attends Doha Summit; discusses regional situation with Arab and Muslim leaders

RIYADH — Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman headed Saudi Arabia's delegation attending the extraordinary session of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit held in Doha on Monday.

The emergency summits reiterated the unity of Arab and Islamic countries in standing with the State of Qatar, as well as their firm positions on protecting their sovereignty and collective security, and readiness to do whatever is necessary to defend their homelands and preserve their security and stability. During the summits, the leaders discussed ways to collectively respond to the Israeli attack that targeted the residential headquarters of several Hamas leaders in Doha last Tuesday.

On the sidelines of the summit meetings, the Crown Prince met with leaders of major Arab and Islamic nations. They include King Abdullah II of Jordan; President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan; Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian; Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif; Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa and Prime Minister of Iraq Mohammed Shia al-Sudani.

The leaders discussed prospects of further strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation between Saudi Arabia and these countries. They reviewed the latest developments in the region and measures taken to address them. Enhancing regional security and stability was also figured highly in the meetings.

Earlier, upon his arrival at the headquarters of the summit venue, the Crown Prince was received by Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan, and Minister of State, Member of the Cabinet and National Security Adviser Dr. Musaed Al-Aiban also attended the meetings.

The accompanying Saudi delegation also included Saudi Ambassador to Qatar Prince Mansour bin Khalid bin Abdullah, Secretary to the Crown Prince Dr. Bandar bin Obaid Al-Rasheed, and Deputy Chief of Royal Protocol Rakan Al-Tubaishi.
