KHAMIS MUSHAYT — NEOM Sports Club celebrated their first-ever Roshn Saudi League victory on Sunday, as Alexandre Lacazette’s late penalty sealed a 2-1 win away at Damac.
The French striker, one of NEOM’s marquee summer signings, struck twice to deliver the newly promoted side’s historic triumph in only their second top-flight outing.
Lacazette opened the scoring in the 30th minute, but Damac responded early in the second half through Jesús Medina’s 49th-minute equalizer.
With the game finely poised, Lacazette held his nerve from the spot in the 83rd minute to restore NEOM’s lead and secure all three points.
The win lifted NEOM to eighth in the table, bouncing back from their opening-day defeat to Al Ahli. Damac, meanwhile, remain winless with one point from two matches.
Earlier in Riyadh, Al Riyadh edged newly promoted Al Najmah 2-1 in the day’s other fixture. Goals from the hosts proved enough to take the points, though the victory was marred in stoppage time by the dismissal of Iraq international Ibrahim Bayesh.
