Arab leaders arrive in Doha for emergency summit after Israeli strike

September 14, 2025

DOHA — Arab leaders began arriving in Qatar on Sunday to attend an emergency Arab-Islamic summit called in response to Israel’s attack on Doha.

According to the state news agency QNA, Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould El-Ghazaouani landed at Hamad International Airport, where he was received by Qatari Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

UAE Minister of State Khalifa Shaheen Al-Marar also arrived in the capital to take part in preparatory meetings of Arab foreign ministers ahead of the summit.

Qatar convened the meeting following Tuesday’s Israeli strike in Doha that targeted Hamas leadership. The attack killed five members of the group and a Qatari security officer.

Doha, along with the US and Egypt, has been mediating talks aimed at ending Israel’s war on Gaza, which has killed more than 64,800 Palestinians since October 2023. — Agencies
