ABU DHABI — The United Arab Emirates summoned Israel’s deputy ambassador, David Ahad Horsandi, to deliver a strong condemnation of Israel’s strike on Qatar and the remarks made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation, conveyed the UAE’s “strong denunciation and rejection” of what she described as a reckless and cowardly assault targeting Qatar.
She stressed that the attack constituted a flagrant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty, a serious breach of international law and the UN Charter, and an irresponsible escalation threatening regional and international security.
Al Hashimy emphasized that the security and stability of Qatar are integral to that of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.
“Any attack on a Gulf state represents an attack on the joint Gulf security framework,” she said.
She warned that the continuation of Israel’s “aggressive and provocative” approach undermines prospects for stability, pushes the region toward dangerous paths, and creates a reality that “cannot be tolerated or accepted.” — SG
