Saudi Gazette report
RIYADH — The National Center for Meteorology announced the first successful summer cloud seeding operation in the Kingdom, increasing rainfall over Rumaḥ in northeastern Riyadh in what it described as a significant technological milestone.
The operation, part of the center’s expanding program, aims to boost rainfall rates and improve water resource utilization amid the region’s changing climate patterns.
Officials said the positive results in Rumaḥ signal the program’s effectiveness, with further efforts planned to enhance seeding techniques and support scientific research to achieve optimal outcomes in future seasons.
The cloud seeding program uses advanced scientific methods to stimulate rain formation by dispersing eco-friendly materials into targeted clouds.
Specially equipped aircraft and trained operational teams carry out the missions as part of Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to strengthen water security and ensure the sustainability of natural resources.
