Minor earthquake recorded near Saudi-UAE border

RIYADH — The Saudi Geological Survey reported that its seismic monitoring stations detected a magnitude-3.44 earthquake late Thursday inside the United Arab Emirates, about 11 kilometers from the Al-Batha border crossing with Saudi Arabia.

The agency said the tremor was precisely recorded at 11:03:52 p.m. through the National Seismic Network and had no direct impact on nearby areas in Saudi Arabia.

It noted that the affected zone lies within a region of low seismic activity.

The Saudi Geological Survey confirmed it continues to monitor seismic activity in the area and that its teams remain on standby to detect and analyze any potential geological developments.
