Saudi Gazette report

TAIF —
Prince Saud bin Nahar, Governor of Taif, has ordered the immediate closure of a local resort following a serious amusement ride collapse that left 23 people injured, including three in critical condition.

The incident occurred Wednesday evening when a spinning ride known as "360" malfunctioned at a recreational resort, causing it to break apart mid-air.

A viral video circulating on social media shows the ride swinging with several girls on board before it snapped in two and crashed to the ground.

Screams filled the air as onlookers rushed to the scene, while the ride operator fled the area.

Emergency responders from civil defense, police, and medical teams swiftly arrived at the site. Some of the injured received on-site treatment, while others were transported to local hospitals. No fatalities were reported.

A statement from the Taif Governorate on Thursday confirmed that an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the mechanical failure and to ensure accountability.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to public safety and emphasized strict enforcement of entertainment venue regulations.
