Saudi Gazette report

MAKKAH — The General Directorate of Civil Defense has called on the public to exercise caution and remain in safe areas, warning against approaching valleys, flood-prone zones, or attempting to swim in them, as thunderstorms are forecast to hit several regions of the Kingdom starting Sunday through Thursday.

In an official advisory, the authority urged residents to closely follow weather updates and adhere to safety instructions broadcast via official media channels and social media platforms.

The alert includes moderate to heavy rainfall in parts of the Makkah region, particularly in Taif, Maysan, Adham, and Al-Araidiyat, which may lead to flash floods, hailstorms, and dust-raising downdraft winds.

Lighter to moderate rainfall is also expected in areas such as Makkah city, Al-Jumum, Al-Muwaih, Turbah, Ranyah, Al-Laith, and Al-Qunfudhah.

Additionally, the regions of Jazan, Najran, Asir, and Al-Baha are also forecast to experience moderate to heavy rainfall during the period.

The Civil Defense emphasized the importance of staying alert and compliant with instructions to ensure public safety during the unstable weather conditions.
