RIYADH — The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) signed a cooperation agreement on Tuesday to provide firefighting equipment and tools to combat wildfires in the town of Kassab in Syria’s Latakia governorate.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Syria’s Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, Raed Al-Saleh.

Under the agreement, rapid and effective response capabilities to wildfires in Latakia will be strengthened through the technical and logistical support of on-the-ground firefighting teams.

Syria’s Deputy Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, Ahmad Qaziz, emphasized the importance of the agreement at this critical time, noting that boosting civil defense capabilities is essential with the onset of summer and its associated climate challenges.

He described the agreement as a strategic partnership focused on training personnel and supplying modern firefighting equipment—key to enhancing Syria’s short- and medium-term fire readiness.

The initiative reflects Saudi Arabia’s longstanding humanitarian commitment to supporting affected communities in times of crisis, reaffirming its mission to extend aid to brotherly and friendly nations across the globe.
