STRASBOURG — Jordanian King Abdullah II affirmed that what is happening in Gaza is inconsistent with international law, especially given the ongoing violations in the West Bank. He emphasized that Palestinians, like all peoples, deserve their right to freedom, sovereignty, and the establishment of their independent state.
During a speech he delivered before the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France, he pointed out that Israel's expansion of its attack to include Iran threatens people everywhere.
King Abdullah II said: “The world is experiencing wave after wave of unrest without respite. It is no wonder that we feel that our world has become uncontrolled, as if it has lost its moral compass.” He added, “True security lies not in the strength of armies, but in the strength of shared values. Peace imposed by force or fear will never last.”
