Al Hilal secure AFC Champions League Elite spot with third-place league finish

RIYADH —
Al Hilal have officially booked their place in next season’s AFC Champions League Elite after sealing third place in the Saudi Pro League with 75 points on the final matchday.

Despite a season marked by setbacks — including missing out on both the league title and King’s Cup — the Riyadh giants ensured continued continental presence by securing the final direct qualification spot for Asia’s premier club competition.

The team had technically clinched qualification in the previous round with a draw against Al Wehda.

However, the Saudi Sports Arbitration Center’s ruling in favor of Al Nassr’s protest over Al Orobah goalkeeper Rafea Al-Ruwaili reignited the race, pushing the battle for Elite spots to the season’s final day.

Al Hilal’s ability to withstand the pressure and deliver in the decisive round reflects the club’s pedigree in Asian competitions.

The Blues remain one of the continent’s most consistent and decorated sides — a reputation they will carry once again into the revamped AFC Champions League Elite.
