LONDON — UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy on Saturday criticized Israel’s decision to deny entry to two British lawmakers, calling it "unacceptable, counterproductive, and deeply concerning."

In a statement, Lammy said the two MPs were part of an official parliamentary delegation visiting Israel when they were detained and refused entry by Israeli authorities.

"This is no way to treat British Parliamentarians," he added, noting that the UK is in contact with the affected MPs to provide support.

Lammy also reaffirmed the UK government's focus on achieving a return to a ceasefire in Gaza, stressing the importance of negotiations to stop the bloodshed, free the hostages, and bring the conflict to an end. — Agencies
