RIYADH — The General Directorate of Civil Defense called on the public to take utmost vigil and caution amid forecast of expected heavy rains across most regions of Saudi Arabia until Friday.

The directorate advised people to stay in safe areas, and avoid flood-prone areas and valleys. Residents are also urged to follow safety instructions circulated through various media outlets and social media platforms.

According to the directorate, Makkah, Al-Baha, Asir, and Jazan regions will receive moderate to heavy rain while moderate rain will experience in the Najran region and light rain is expected in the Madinah region.

Taif, Maysan, Adham, and Al-Ardiyat areas in the Makkah region will be affected by moderate to heavy rains, leading to flash floods, hail, and dust storms, while light to moderate rains will experience in the Makkah city, Al-Jumum, Al-Kamil, and Bahra in the region.

Meanwhile, the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) said that thunderstorms accompanied by hail and active winds will hit parts of the Eastern Province, Riyadh, Najran, Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, and Makkah on Monday. Fog is likely to form in some areas of these regions.

The center added that surface winds, causing dust storms, will be active in parts of the Qassim and Madinah regions, as well as in the coastal areas of Tabuk.
