Royal order extends Dr. Eman Al-Mutairi’s role as Deputy Minister of Commerce

RIYADH —
A royal order has been issued extending the tenure of Dr. Eman Al-Mutairi as Deputy Minister of Commerce for an additional four years, the Ministry of Commerce announced on Thursday.

Dr. Al-Mutairi has a distinguished career in both the public and private sectors. Prior to her current role, she served as Assistant Minister of Commerce and General Supervisor of the Executive Committee for Improving the Performance of the Private Sector.

She also played a key role in preparing for the establishment of the National Competitiveness Center, one of the key initiatives under the National Transformation Program 2020.

She previously worked as an advisor to the Minister of Commerce and Investment (before the ministries were separated) and was Director of the Strategic Transformation Office at the General Investment Authority (now the Ministry of Investment).

Dr. Al-Mutairi also held several leadership roles at Saudi Aramco, including Project Manager of the Aramco–Johns Hopkins partnership (2012–2014), Head of the Leadership Development Project under Aramco’s Accelerated Strategic Transformation Program (2011–2012), Head of Workforce Planning and Analytics (2010–2011), and Head of Quality and Patient Safety at Aramco Hospital (2007–2010). She also worked as a Preventive Medicine Consultant (2003–2006) at Aramco Hospital.

Internationally, she was a Scientific Research Consultant at PerkinElmer Life Sciences in the United States between 2000 and 2002.

Dr. Al-Mutairi holds a PhD in Biochemical Organic Chemistry from the University of Bristol (UK) and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from King Faisal University (now Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University). She also conducted postdoctoral research in genetics and molecular biology at Harvard University, where she also lectured. Most recently, she earned an executive coaching certificate from Henley Business School, University of Reading (UK).
