King Salman and Crown Prince offer condolences to Chinese president over earthquake victims

RIYADH Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman have sent cables of condolences to Chinese President Xi Jinping over the victims of the earthquake that struck Dingri County of Xizang Region in southwest China.

In their cables, the King and the Crown Prince extended their heartfelt condolences and sincere sympathy to the Chinese president, as well as to the families of the deceased, and the Chinese people. They wished the injured a speedy recovery.

A total of 126 people have been confirmed dead and 188 others injured after a 6.8-magnitude earthquake jolted Xizang Autonomous Region on Tuesday, toppling thousands of rural houses. A preliminary survey showed 3,609 houses have collapsed, and 407 trapped people have been rescued and over 30,000 affected residents have been relocated.
