DAMASCUS —
Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani said on Friday that Saudi Arabia has affirmed its readiness to support Syria's reconstruction, unity, and territorial integrity following a visit by a Syrian delegation to Riyadh.

In posts shared on his official account on the platform X, Al-Shaibani expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia for the warm reception, describing the trip as a landmark moment for the new Syrian administration.

“We emphasized Syria's pivotal role in fostering positive relations in the region and advancing shared policies that promote security, stability, and prosperity alongside Arab nations,” Al-Shaibani stated.

He added that Saudi Arabia reiterated its support for the Syrian people and the new Syrian administration, expressing its willingness to contribute to the nation’s rebuilding efforts.

On Thursday, Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman held discussions with Al-Shaibani and key figures from Syria’s new leadership, including the Minister of Defense and the Chief of General Intelligence.

The meeting, described by Prince Khalid as productive in a post on X, focused on the latest developments in Syria and explored ways to support the political transition process.

The goal is to address the aspirations of the Syrian people while ensuring Syria’s security, stability, and territorial unity.

The visit follows an official invitation extended by Saudi Arabia to Al-Shaibani and comes less than a month after the ousting of former President Bashar al-Assad by factions on December 8.

Last month, a high-ranking Saudi government delegation visited Damascus and met with Ahmed Al-Sharaa, the head of the new Syrian administration.
