Interior minister emphasizes enhancing Saudi-Qatari security cooperation

RIYADH Saudi Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif and Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani co-chaired the Security and Military Committee's second meeting for the year 2024. The committee was established by the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council.

Addressing the virtual meeting of the committee, Prince Abdulaziz emphasized that the meeting aimed to enhance security cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Qatar. "This is in line with the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman," he said while highlighting the exceptional relations between Saudi Arabia and Qatar under the leadership of Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Prince Abdulaziz congratulated Sheikh Saoud on his appointment as deputy prime minister and minister of state for defense affairs. He also congratulated the Qatari government and people on their National Day, wishing the country continued security and stability.

The minister of interior praised the efforts of the working teams from both sides in implementing the agreed-upon initiatives. The meeting also reviewed several topics on its agenda.

At the end of the meeting, Prince Abdulaziz and Sheikh Saoud signed the minutes of the second Security and Military Committee meeting.

The meeting was attended by several Saudi officials. They included Assistant Minister of Interior Dr. Hisham Al-Falih, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Security Affairs Mohammed Al-Muhanna, Director General of the Minister's Office for Studies and Research Maj. Gen. Khalid Al-Arwan, Representative of the Presidency of State Security Maj. Gen. Abdullah Al-Qahtani, Assistant Chief of General Intelligence for Intelligence Affairs Maj. Gen. Khalid Al-Otaibi, Director of the Defense Intelligence Center at the Ministry of Defense Maj. Gen. Sattam Al-Mutairi, Director General of Legal Affairs and International Cooperation Ahmed Al-Issa, and Director General of International Cooperation at the National Cybersecurity Authority Eng. Badr bin Ibrahim.
