Al-Jubeir holds multiple meetings on climate cooperation and international relations at UNGA

NEW YORK — Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Cabinet Member, and Climate Envoy Adel Al-Jubeir engaged in several high-level meetings on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, focusing on climate cooperation and strengthening bilateral relations.

Al-Jubeir met with Qatari Foreign Minister's Climate Envoy Ambassador Bader Al-Dafa to review relations between the two countries and discuss joint efforts to preserve the environment and combat climate change.

He also held discussions with Ecuador's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility, Gabriela Sommerfeld, and Suriname’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Albert Ramdin, on enhancing bilateral ties and international developments of mutual interest.

In a separate meeting, Al-Jubeir engaged with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Solomon Islands, Peter Agofaka, to address regional and international issues of shared concern.

Additionally, Al-Jubeir met with Agoshi Daniels, Deputy Director General of the International Organization for Migration, as well as Prince Jimmy de Bourbon, the Netherlands' Climate Envoy, to review Saudi Arabia’s climate efforts.

In discussions with Inger Andersen, Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme, Al-Jubeir highlighted Saudi Arabia’s climate change initiatives, while in talks with Ibrahim Thiaw, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, the two focused on joint cooperation in addressing desertification and climate challenges globally.
