Saudi athlete Abdulrahman Al-Qurashi wins gold in 100m T53 at Paris 2024 Paralympic Games

Saudi Arabian Paralympic athlete Abdulrahman Al-Qurashi clinched the gold medal in the 100m T53 wheelchair race at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games on Thursday.

The event took place at Stade de France, with the presence of Abdulaziz Baashen, CEO and Secretary General of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, along with the accompanying delegation.

Al-Qurashi secured first place with a new personal best time of 14.48 seconds.

He dedicated the gold medal to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, as well as to the Saudi people.

"The support from our leadership and the continuous follow-up from Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, gave us the greatest motivation to achieve gold for our beloved nation," Al-Qurashi said.

He added that his journey towards gold began right after the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, expressing gratitude to his family, coaches, staff, and everyone who supported him along the way.
