22 Palestinians killed in overnight Israeli raids across Gaza as onslaught continues

August 22, 2024

GAZA — At least 22 Palestinians were killed and many others injured in a series of overnight Israeli raids across the Gaza Strip, as the conflict entered its 321st day on Thursday.

In the northern Gaza town of Beit Lahia, an Israeli airstrike on a house claimed the lives of 11 Palestinians, most of them children and women, according to a medical source who spoke to Anadolu.

Three more people were killed in another Israeli airstrike targeting a house in the Jabalia refugee camp, the source added.

In the al-Maghazi refugee camp, located in central Gaza, six Palestinians, including three children, were killed and four others injured when an Israeli airstrike struck a home.

A mother and her child also lost their lives in an Israeli airstrike on a Palestinian home in the city of Khan Younis, according to another medical source.

Israel has continued its offensive on Gaza since Hamas launched an attack on Oct. 7, 2023. The ongoing conflict has resulted in over 40,200 Palestinian deaths, mostly women and children, and nearly 93,000 injuries, according to local health authorities.

The situation in Gaza is dire, with large areas lying in ruins due to a severe blockade that has left residents without adequate access to food, clean water, or medicine.

Israel's actions in the blockaded enclave have led to accusations of genocide at the International Court of Justice. — Agencies
